How does scoring work?
If Round Weights are not used, each win, by itself is worth 1 point regardless of round. If Round Weights are use, each win is worth the 'weight' value that is assigned to that round. If Round of 64 has a weight of 1, then each round of 64 win is worth 1 point. If Round of 32 has a weight of 2, then each round of 32 win is worth 2 points, etc. Round Weights are decided by the pools admin when he/she creates the pool.
The admin can also choose to use Seed Bonuses. A Seed Bonus is calculated by taking the points for a given win and either adding or multiplying the winning teams Seed value to the point value to get the new point total.
The admin can also add an Underdog Bonus which simply adds to the current point total for that win the difference between the picked teams seed and the favorites seed if the picked team is seeded lower and wins the game. The seed difference is the difference in seed of the ACTUAL matchup, not the picked matchup.
Both Seed Bonuses and Underdog Bonuses are set by the pool admin for each round when the pool is created. Please check your pools 'Pool Rules' page to see how your pools scoring is defined.

When is scoring updated?
Game scores are updated at the end of the day. Pool Scoring updates automatically when the game scores update.
How does the championship game total points tie-break work?
The person who gets the closest to the total point value regardless of going over is the winner. If two people have the same total points and have the same championship game tie-break total point value, then the person who made their picks first wins. Sorting by who made their picks first is automatic. The tie break only decides between people whose pick points are tied. The tie-break total points do not add to the players total points for the tournament.
What are Round Weights?
Round weights are the number of points you get for each win in each round. Points for a win in each round can all be set to the same value or you can give different point values for wins in different rounds. Since the number of games in each round decrease after each round, it is common to assign more points to games in later rounds.
For example, there are 32 games in the round of 64 teams, 16 games in the round of 32, 8 games in the Sweet 16, etc.
If you make each round of 64 game worth 1 point and each round of 32 game worth 2 points, each Sweet 16 game worth 4 points, etc. then each round will be worth 32 points. You can choose any round weighting you'd like.
What is a Seed Bonus?
The seed bonus uses the picked teams' seed value to give a bonus to the player if the team picked has a lower seed than the other team.
For example, in the round of 64, if the Round Weight is set to 2 and if a player picks the 12 seed to beat the 5 seed, the player will be awarded 12 + 2 = 14 points if the Add Seed option is selected for the Round of 64, or 12 * 2 = 24 points if the Multiply Seed option is selected for the Round of 64.
What is an Underdog Bonus?
If you enable this choice for a given round, if a player picks a team with a lower seed than it's opponent to win a game, the player will also get the difference between the picked underdog's seed value and the favorite's seed value.
For example, if a player picks a 14 seed to beat a 3 seed, then if the 14 seed wins the game, the player will get 14 - 3 = 11 addtional points. The bigger the upset, the more points the player gets for the pick. THE POINT DIFFERENCE IS CALCULATED USING THE ACTUAL TEAM MATCHUP, NOT THE PICKED MATCHUP! If you pick a 13 seed to meet a 5 seed in the round of 32 and have the 13 seed winning but the actual matchup was the 13 vs. the 12 seed, you'd only get 1 Underdog Bonus point instead of 8. Also, if, in a game, you picked a team that would be an Underdog but the actual matchup makes the team you picked to win the favorite, you will NOT get the Underdog points.
What if two people have the same score and have chosen the same championship game total point value?
If players tied for their tournament total points AND they've picked the same championship game total point value, then the player who picked first wins.
I bookmarked my pool's home page but when I try to use the bookmark, I get an Access Denied page. Why?

Why do I have to log back in after I don't use the site for a while?
Our site has a default 20 minute timeout for inactivity. Users who are inactive for 20 minutes are automatically logged out and must login back in to access again. This allows us to free up server resources allowing other users to use the site trouble free. 20 minutes is a standard timeout used by many site for the same reason.
Why don't I get the email that PoolHost.com sends to everyone else?
Our group email goes out with everyone's email address on the blind copy (BCC) line with a generic PoolHost.com email address on the TO line. Some email services such as Yahoo send email that you receive without your address being in the TO line directo to the Bulk Email Folder. They do this to keep you from being SPAMMED. Unfortunately this prevents our group email from reaching you unless you check your Bulk Email Folder regularly. Other services and mail clients have similar options. Check to see if these options are changeable. If not, it will be diffcult for you to receive PoolHost.com email or mail from your pool admin.

Why?
Our pages require you to be logged in. If you bookmark a page that requires you to be logged in, you will not be allowed access to that page until you log in. Instead of bookmarking that page, you should book mark https://www.poolhost.com instead.
I'm currently using another site. Can I transfer my pool to PoolHost.com?
Yes. This is relatively easy to do. When you create a pool you become the pool admin for that pool. You now have the ability to enter picks for all players for the current week and previous weeks. You just need to create the pool using the rules that best suit you and then transfer all the pick information into your pool on our site.
I missed the start of the tournament. Can I still sign up and transfer my pool info into a pool I create on your site?
Yes. This is relatively easy to do. When you create a pool you become the pool admin for that pool. You now have the ability to enter picks for all players for the current week and previous weeks. You just need to create the pool using the rules that best suit you and then transfer all the pick information into your pool on our site.
